A community of disciples on an adventure together of becoming more like Jesus, and helping others do the same. A Church of England church serving the Ise Lodge estate since 1969.

Who we are

Christ the King is an Anglican church on Deeble Road, here to serve the Ise Lodge estate and to be a good partner to churches across the town, the county and the Diocese of Peterborough.

The church describes itself as Anglican, evangelical and charismatic. In everyday terms that means worship that is modern and lively, teaching that takes the Bible seriously, and an openness to what God is doing now. Nobody needs a membership card: just come along and join in.

Bible-based

We believe God speaks today through the Bible, and we try to understand it and live it out, together and as individuals.

Spirit-led

We look for what Jesus is doing among us and around us, trusting the Holy Spirit to guide and equip us.

Everyone matters

Every person, however young or old, is of equal importance and value to God. That shapes how we welcome people.

Our story

It began with nine people

In 1969, nine people stepped out in faith to start a new church in the town. More than fifty years on, Christ the King is a church family of around 200 people.

Along the way the church has sent people out as missionaries and clergy, and still supports mission partners overseas, including work in Moldova. The prayer room in September 2026 is the latest chapter: a church that keeps praying for its streets, its schools and the world.

What a Sunday is like

10amEvery Sunday

Morning worship

Casual dress, comfortable chairs, a band leading modern worship, and words on the screen. People of all ages come, including lots of children and young people, and nobody minds if little ones wander about and join in.

Families start together, then children go to their own groups for about an hour
Every six weeks or so, a shorter all-age service called One Life
Holy Communion on the fourth Sunday of the month (gluten-free available)
Prayer ministry at every service, and live on YouTube if you can't make it
Arrive 5 to 10 minutes early for parking and a seat

6pmEvery Sunday

Abide

Abide is the new Sunday evening service at 6pm, for anyone who can't make the morning or would like to end the weekend with worship.

10amWednesdays

Midweek Communion

A quieter, more traditional service in the church, followed by time for fellowship and refreshments. Everyone is welcome.

2.30pmSecond Sunday

MishMash

An afternoon of activities for children and families, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm on the second Sunday of each month.

Something for everyone

Children and families

Groups for every age during the Sunday service, with fun, games, snacks and Bible-themed activities, led by DBS-checked leaders.

Sundays 10am

Youth

Youth Life for 11 to 18 year olds on Sunday evenings, and The Youth Space on Fridays in term time: games, chat and a safe place to unwind.

Sun 6pm · Fri 7.30pm

Life Groups

Small groups that meet in homes, online or at church during the week to read the Bible, pray and look out for each other.

Mon to Thu, 8pm

Alpha

A relaxed course exploring the big questions of life and the Christian faith, over food and conversation. Questions welcome.
